Traditional Character and Small-Group Adventure
Akomo Isseki is a hand-crafted Indonesian Phinisi offering intimate diving expeditions for a maximum of eight guests. Crewed by experienced Bugis sailors from South Sulawesi, the vessel combines traditional Indonesian boatbuilding and seamanship with a relaxed, sociable atmosphere.
Four naturally ventilated twin cabins provide simple and comfortable accommodation, while shared bathrooms combine modern facilities with decorative touches inspired by local craftsmanship. The small guest capacity creates an informal onboard experience, with personal service, uncomplicated dive logistics, and plenty of opportunity to get to know the crew and fellow travellers.
Between dives, guests can gather around the communal dining table or relax on the large, partially shaded sun deck. Freshly prepared Indonesian and Western dishes, homemade bread, sweet treats, hot coffee, and memorable beach barbecues are all part of the journey. Kayaking, snorkelling, island excursions, and quiet evenings watching the sunset add variety to the days onboard.
Akomo Isseki operates across some of Indonesia’s most celebrated and remote diving regions. Komodo itineraries combine manta encounters, colourful reefs, fascinating macro life, and visits to see the famous Komodo dragons. In Raja Ampat, guests can explore exceptionally diverse coral ecosystems inhabited by wobbegong sharks, pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, manta rays, and enormous schools of fish.
For those seeking a more adventurous route, crossings between Ambon and Waisai follow the historic Spice Islands through rarely visited areas of the Banda Sea. These expeditions offer remote reefs, exploratory diving, and the possibility of encountering schooling hammerhead sharks.
With its traditional character, passionate dive team, attentive crew, and small-group approach, Akomo Isseki is an inviting choice for divers who value authentic expeditions over formal luxury.
